Terms, conditions and benefits:
• Pay: £28,485 to £30,785 (NJC 32-35) per year starting at the bottom of the scale.
• Contract type: Permanent.
• This is a full time post, 37.5 hours per week.
• 30 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
• Free Health Scheme with UK Healthcare.
• Pension - Employer contributes 4% and employees contribute a minimum of 0.8%, (see Summ of T&Cs below).
• There is a requirement to work flexibly as required, which will include occasional evening and weekend work and participation in the managers’ on call rota.
• You will need to travel across Bristol so you must have either a full driving licence and access to a vehicle or the equivalent ability to travel with reasonable adjustments.

The job is based at our Head Office on Old Market, Bristol.

You’ll be working in the Bristol Dispersed Housing Team and line managed by the Operations Director.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Bristol Dispersed Housing team who provide high quality supported accommodation for vulnerable young people across the City.

In this role you will lead the operational delivery of support to 150 young people within our dispersed housing service and our innovative Future Builders project, which combines wrap around support with affordable supported housing and apprenticeships.

You will provide reflective supervision to your team and direct reports. You will robustly manage, monitor and report on service delivery and performance, encompassing support and housing management, reflecting psychologically informed approaches that promote positive outcomes for young people.

You will inspire our team of Supported Housing Officers, Allocations Workers, Maintenance Persons, Resident Adults and our Future Builders Workers. You will be well supported in this by the 2 Deputy Housing Managers and the Maintenance Team Leader.

A typical day might include:
• Supporting, motivating and supervising staff in a range of roles, to deliver high quality housing and support services - ensuring the effective and timely allocation of support and maintaining a responsive service for young people with diverse and complex needs.
• Leading partnership work with internal services and partner agencies to ensure that services meet young people’s needs in a co-ordinated way - including closely working with partners, such as Children and Young People’s Services, Registered Providers and BCC’s Housing Advice Team - to ensure services are successfully joined up.
• Enabling young people to be involved in and have a voice in service and organisational development.
• Leading the team in the implementation of psychologically informed support, that enables young people to develop trusting relationships and develop belief in their ability to achieve.

About you

You have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.

You have significant experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of psychologically informed approaches in this area of work.
You have demonstrable experience of managing a supported housing scheme or a relevant management or leadership role.

You enjoy and are successful at managing complex projects, able to work under pressure and achieve agreed goals.
You are skilled and experienced in managing and leading staff and a highly effective communicator.
You are confident in making effective decisions that safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and manage risk.
