Terms, conditions and benefits:
• Pay: £21,268 - £23,398 (NJC 23 - 26) per year starting at the bottom of the scale
• Contract type: Permanent.
• This is a full time post, 37.5 hours per week. 30 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays..
• Free Health Scheme with UK Healthcare.
• Pension - Employer contributes 4% and employees contribute a minimum of 0.8%, (see Sum of T&Cs below).

The job is based at Kingsley Hall - Old Market Street, Bristol.
You will be working in the Corporate Services Team and line managed by the Finance Manager.

• Managing, coordinating, fully administering and responsible for a patch of 271 units for young people.
• Monitoring and liaising with Housing Benefit to ensure all claims are accurate and up-to-date. Dealing with payment queries and providing support to Housing Officers and residents on all Housing Benefit matters.
• Updating and monitoring rent records on the rents system including transfers, payments, adjustments and any other information that might be required.
• Monthly rent reconciliations.
• Supporting and working collaboratively with colleagues in other teams to ensure early intervention actions in line with the charity's policies and procedures to stop arrears accruing and maximise rental income.
• Recommending rent arrears write offs after ensuring all avenues to collect the debt have been exhausted.
• Dealing with any legal actions required, to prepare all legal documentation in relation to rent arrears and attend court hearings if required.
• Representing the charity, adhering to the values of the organisation at internal and external meetings

You must be enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for getting results while following and believing in the values of the charity.

The team are very supportive of each other and through reflective practice we are always learning from our own and each other’s experiences.

Our work is rooted in providing support in a Psychologically Informed Environment framework known as PIE.

A typical day will include:
• Accurately recording rent charges and payments.
• Managing a caseload of residents and ex-residents to ensure that prompt and effective action is taken to control and recover rent arrears.
• Liaising with Supported Housing Workers about individual cases.
• Providing accurate reporting to management as required.

About you

You have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.

You are an excellent communicator with attention to detail, and an ability to communicate at all levels, especially dealing sensitively with young people on the phone, via email or face to face, remaining calm and professional at all times.

You have strong literacy and numeracy skills

You are confident using Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

You are highly organised, logical and methodical, with a flexibility and willingness to work effectively as part of the team and greater organisation.

You have experience within a rent management or credit control role.

You have knowledge of housing and welfare benefits for 16-25 year olds.
