South Gloucestershire Council are currently recruiting a talented Senior Project Manager to be based in our Badminton Road Office, Yate.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to assume responsibility for developing, monitoring and delivering projects with a focus on climate change, carbon reduction, low carbon and renewable energy.

You will lead and manage Project Delivery Teams in a matrix environment, with support from the Strategic Projects Manager and Project Sponsors. You will also input into the development of strategic policies and plans, provide technical advice on renewable energy planning applications and support service departments in managing their environmental impacts.

You will support building strong client/contractor relationships, budget management and reporting, event management, as well as support monitoring and reporting on targets. Working directly alongside senior team members, you will contribute to overcoming the day-to-day challenges associated with first-of-a-kind deployments in areas such as decentralised energy, combined heat and power opportunities, energy storage and electric / hydrogen vehicles.

To succeed, you will be an experienced Project Manager with a strong track record of successful project delivery within the environmental / low carbon field. You will possess excellent commercial skills and stakeholder management credentials. Your approach to problem solving and passion for getting the job done will be complemented by your ability to work at the pace necessary to meet the requirements set by Project Sponsors, Programme Sponsors and the Director of the Environment and Community Services (ECS) Directorate. Regardless of your background, you will need to bring excellent communication and influencing skills, appropriate to working in a large, complex multi-agency/partner environment.
