This is an all year round post with a starting hourly rate of £8.68. This post has an approximate abated annual salary of £1,131.

Cooking experience is essential.

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults Barred List checks will be required for this role.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and committed individual who has worked in a similar role. We are looking for someone who uses their initiative, takes pride in their work and is happy in a fast paced working environment.

Requirements (please provide evidence in your application form)

•Previous experience in a food preparation and production environment is essential, including the provision of food according to the menu, portion control, for preparation and cooking, and implementing dietary requirements.
•To be responsible for the day to day supervision of all aspects of the catering service at a level of approximately 200 meals per day, for delivery by Helper/Drivers in accordance with set timetables, as well as the provision of emergency feeding when required.
•To be responsible for the day to day supervision of staff and operational activities. This will involve the responsibility for all catering staff employed in the kitchen, typically 2 part time staff and 8 Helper/Drivers.
•The supervision of staffing including allocation of duties and work rota’s and arranging temporary cover for staff absences in consultation with the Area Manager.
•To undertake clerical duties such as ordering of supplies within appropriate guidelines, completion of meal number returns, stoke sheets, timesheets etc.
•To communicate with all staff in a polite and friendly manner, dealing directly with informal complaints from customers.
•To be responsible for the control of hygiene, health and safety and security of the kitchens and surroundings.
•Supervision and use of catering equipment, monitoring the condition and safe use of catering equipment, reporting faults and breakdown in such equipment as necessary.
•To be expected to work largely unsupervised on a daily basis, to an established work pattern, and will report to the Area Catering Manager.
