Summary of the post:

Under the general supervision of the Registered/ Duty Manager to ensure that the Care Home has minor building repairs and decorations carried out, to undertake all household maintenance including Health and Safety aspects

Main Duties:

To be aware of all Health & Safety tasks- water temperatures, fire system testing.

To undertake minor repairs and maintenance as and when required

To undertake responsibility in general cleanliness and observation that boilers are working and report any defects

To ensure all stores are adequately stored and areas kept clean and tidy

To undertake repair work for residents i.e. pump up wheelchair tyres, hang pictures, put up shelves etc.

To collect items from the shops and make any deliveries necessary

To assist with high cleaning in the kitchen area

To maintain all tools and equipment

To ensure both the outside and inner garden areas are kept clean & tidy, there will also be some gardening involved with this post i.e. pruning, planting & weeding.

To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

Experience in DIY

Experience with using power tools

You must be able to work on your own using your own initiative

You will need to be flexible in working hours

Use of a vehicle

If the nature of the duties require you to travel on Council business on a regular basis, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car, or have access to appropriate means of travel.

If you use your vehicle on authorised Council business, you will receive a mileage payment based on the Inland Revenue Authorised Mileage Allowance Payment Scheme (AMAPS). The allowance is provided on the condition that your own insurance covers you for business use and indemnifies the Council against claim (including those concerning passengers) arising out of the use of the vehicle on official business. You will also be eligible for a car loan if you meet the criteria within the Council’s Car Loan Scheme.
