ICT Services Technician

Summary of Post
Under the management of the ICT Engineer (SDO) to provide advice and onsite support to Integra IT supported establishments on the maintenance, development and use of the ICT infrastructure, equipment, systems and software. This is to include hardware repairs and redundant kit disposal; routine system, hardware and software maintenance; testing, installation and configuration of new hardware and software It is essential that accurate logs be maintained of all calls and work undertaken on the ICT Service Desk system. As the main point of contact, it is important to maintain the customer relationship and help develop a strong working bond with supported sites.

Main Duties

• To provide ICT hardware and software support to schools and other CYP establishments, either by telephone, remote access or onsite visits as appropriate. This to include hardware repairs and redundant kit disposal; routine system, hardware and software maintenance; testing, installation and configuration of new hardware and software.
• To record and maintain an accurate log of all calls and work undertaken on the ICT Helpdesk system.
• To provide advice to coordinators and managers of establishments on the sustainability and development of their ICT infrastructure and systems.

Selection Criteria

The post holder will have:

• A current IT qualification or have the equivalent demonstrable experience of desktop applications and Windows operating systems – NVQ3 or equivalent in the IT field or A+, N+, MCP Desktop Qualifications
• Demonstrable problem solving skills in standard IT problems in an environment which can be varied (the post holder will have relevant expertise and patience to establish the cause of the problems and how to resolve or escalate them).
• Experience of logging calls on an industry standard service desk and Microsoft Office
• Previous service desk experience dealing with customers on the phone and working in the field
• Exemplifying the Council's values and behaviours.


• Microsoft Certified Professional
• Experience of working in an educational organisation, private sector or technical service provider.

Use of a vehicle: the nature of the duties require you to travel on Council business on a regular basis, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car, or have access to appropriate means of travel.

If you use your vehicle on authorised Council business, you will receive a mileage payment based on the Inland Revenue Authorised Mileage Allowance Payment Scheme (AMAPS). The allowance is provided on the condition that your own insurance covers you for business use and indemnifies the Council against claim (including those concerning passengers) arising out of the use of the vehicle on official business. You will also be eligible for a car loan if you meet the criteria within the Council’s Car Loan Scheme.

Salary: £24,628.07 – £27,329.07
