Street Care Operative (Mechanical Mini Sweeper)


You will be carrying out routine mechanical street cleansing duties of cycleways and footways throughout South Gloucestershire, using appropriate equipment including a mechanical mini sweeper with a gross weight not exceeding 7.5t.

Main Duties:
• To undertake the collection and clearing of arising detritus on streets through mechanical and some manual methods.
• Responsible for duties associated with HGV driving and safe and effective operation of the vehicle.
• To complete electronic records of works undertaken using ICT equipment provided.
• To dispose of all waste arising in an effective manner and in accordance with the Duty of Care requirements and other appropriate waste legislation.
• Working out of normal working hours maybe required, for which the appropriate enhancement will be paid where required.

Essential Criteria:
• Driving licence and CPC to category C1.
• Be able to interpret and follow health and safety advice and regulations relevant to the post as instructed through written instruction and procedures/risk assessments, verbal advice, and toolbox talks.
• Experience of face to face contact with the public within a working environment showing competency in customer care.
• Experience in mechanical street cleansing services.
• Be able to demonstrate a good level of literacy and able to interpret information from instructions, maps and specifications on paper or hand held technology.

Desirable Criteria:
• Experience in using mobile working technologies such as hand-held devices.
• Driving Licence - C1E.
