We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity where you will be carrying out Safeguarding enquiries, maintaining records of safeguarding concerns relating to service providers; screening services, carrying out enquiries and making recommendations in relation to Organisational Safeguarding issues, and participation in Safeguarding meetings.

As part of this role you will carry out visits to service providers and write reports relating to these, also liaising with Social Work or Occupational Therapy staff, and other associated staff in relation to safeguarding enquiries, social care assessments, support plans, practice and decision making.

On occasion you may be required to deputise for the Team Manager and chair safeguarding strategy and review meetings, or attend meetings with other agencies.

You will maintain accurate and up to date records, including full use of electronic data systems.

As an experienced worker you will keep your professional skills and knowledge of legislation and practice up to date, and will have a role in developing professional practice in the team. You may be required to act as practice educator to qualifying and newly qualified staff.

You will maintain and promote effective partnerships with relevant agencies including the CCG and CQC to achieve best outcomes for service users. This may involve assisting in developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures.

Main Duties

Work closely with other senior practitioners in the Access team and together rotate, screening, duty senior practitioner, chair safe guarding adults conferences, attend Marac and resource panel.

Providing both formal and informal supervision, ensuring that clear organisation and direction is provided and that training needs are identified and met. Ensure the work of professionals including allocation of caseloads or other caring staff giving guidance, advice and feedback.

Monitor all safe guarding actions and ensure that time scales are met and protection plans are followed accurately, making decisions about the risks to vulnerable adults and ensure that the workers risk assessments are robust.

Carry out specialist assessments and casework, ensuring that these are precise and effective.

Monitor service delivery through feedback and informal complaints, ensuring that complaints are processed and rectified, and that future service delivery is adjusted as appropriate.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Registration with the HCPC.

Degree in Social Work or equivalent (eg DipSW, CQSW, CSS)

Relevant post qualifying experience and of dealing with complex cases, including safe guarding

Supervisory skills and experience of providing supervision of casework.

IT skills to use client data system.

To have experience working in a duty system and/or Screening capacity.

To have direct work with safeguarding decision making.

Exemplify the Council’s values and behaviours.

Desirable

A management qualification equivalent to Level 5 or postgraduate certificate in management.

A full Post Qualifying Award.

Use of a vehicle:The nature of the duties of this post will require you to travel on Council business on a regular basis, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car, or have access to appropriate means of travel.

If you use your vehicle on authorised Council business, you will receive a mileage payment based on the Inland Revenue Authorised Mileage Allowance Payment Scheme (AMAPS). The allowance is provided on the condition that your own insurance covers you for business use and indemnifies the Council against claim (including those concerning passengers) arising out of the use of the vehicle on official business. You will also be eligible for a car loan if you meet the criteria within the Council’s Car Loan Scheme.
