How you’ll make a difference

As a proactive, gifted and tenacious Occupational Therapist, you’ll have a vision of how technology can help people live and not exist.

You will have the appetite, competence and determination to make a difference to people and the landscape of health and social care through the supply and adoption of Assistive Technology.

What does a typical day look like?

This is a unique role that can be developed and shaped. It is an opportunity to become an Occupational Therapy Specialist, promoting best practice and influencing change. You will be key in the Assistive Technology cultural transformation that’s needed in order to ensure best value

Through your love of technology, gadgets, applications and gizmos you will show how Technology can help people live differently. You will provide knowledge, tools and guidance to enable people to adopt Assistive Technology solutions for themselves. Using your skills and understanding of Assistive Technology you will help prevent, reduce and/or delay the need for care and support. Most importantly, you will give independence and autonomy to individuals and their carers.

You will support colleagues and others with assessment and review care packages. You will attend funding panel meetings, team meetings, give and receive training and facilitate service promotion. You will develop your own knowledge through attending webinars, seminars, conferences, training and self-directed learning. You will complement the Council’s Telecare service and supervise a technician assistant who will support you in the practical delivery and installation of Assistive Technology.
