How you’ll make a difference

You’ll make a difference by leading a specialist team in order to improve the outcomes for vulnerable children and families.


What will you be doing?

You will carry out whole family assessments of need, providing advice and guidance to families, in order to establish plans where appropriate, ensuring that services are effective, and supportive for families with children under 5 years.

You’ll manage your own caseload of specific work to ensure specialist inputs and effective outcomes achieved. Daily you will record and write reports in accordance to professional and council guidelines. You may be asked to contribute to social care plans.

You will facilitate a range of groups to support families with children aged 5 and under, with colleagues or in partnership with other agencies.

You’ll be responsible for the supervision of up to 3 Families Plus Support Workers. You’re responsible for allocations of case work, giving advice and feedback, ensuring that clear organisation and direction is provided. You will review and monitor Early Help plans, responding to the changing of needs and renegotiating where appropriate in accordance with safeguarding procedures.

You will liaise and work with contacts from different sectors; including health, social care and voluntary sector ensuring that communication is effective so knowledge and best practice is shared.


What we need from you:

You will be professional qualified, at NVQ 4 or equivalent, or be working towards a relevant professional qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.

You will have significant working knowledge or early child development and experience of working with the vulnerable and disadvantaged families.

You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice processes and procedures.

The ability to supervise and allocate work to others, monitoring their performance and taking corrective action with developed interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and partner organisations.
