How you’ll make a difference

You’ll be contributing towards and supporting the development and delivery of the council’s strategic economic development objectives, programmes and projects.

What will you be doing?

Acting as lead officer you will coordinate and respond to inward investment enquiries for South Gloucestershire, contributing to the development and delivery of the West of England Shared Inward Investment Service and respond to inward investment enquiries.

You will manage relevant innovation themed projects that can create high value jobs and GVA opportunities for South Gloucestershire either internally, or in collaborative settings.

You are responsible for managing engagement with strategic employers through designing/delivery of a variety of business engagement events and activities.

You will lead on cluster development and on-going negotiations for brokering business support packages with private sector enterprises to provide support to local businesses and networks, reacting to market needs.

You may be required to generate ideas for developing and producing a range of materials to promote the economic benefits of South Gloucestershire and services provided, through print and online media.

Coordinate monitoring of commercial property vacancy and uptake including retail property in town and district centres and industrial/office sites.
Daily you’ll line manage two colleagues to coordinate support for local business networks.

You will prepare economic briefings and dashboard reports for colleagues, senior officers and members in respect of any economic issues relating to the aforementioned areas.

What we need from you:

You must have networking skills and tact and diplomacy to enable the council to strengthen its links with local employers and delivery partners and to ensure the council is projected in a positive light.

You will have good written skills with experience of writing reports, analysing and interpretation data.

You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with colleagues, other professionals, stakeholders and partner organisations.
