Summary of Post

An opportunity has become available within the North Cluster of Children’s Centres in South Gloucestershire. This is a part time limited term post to cover a secondment until 30th April 2020. The hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Thursday.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive administrative and support service to ensure the delivery of the early intervention and preventative services for families with children aged 0-5. The post will mainly be based in one of the Children’s Centres (Yate CC) but may be required to provide some outreach support in other areas of South Gloucestershire.

Interview is going to be held on 02/07/2019.


Main Duties

Provide advice and assistance and be the first point of contact for the Children’s Centre.

Ensure timely and accurate inputting of information on the relevant Information Technology system

Undertake relevant financial transactions

Signpost parents and other service users to a range of services provided by appropriate organisations and agencies.

Ensure that Children’s Centre services and activities are publicised effectively and making sure that all relevant publication materials are up-to-date and available to Children’s Centre service users, including a Children’s Centre website.

Open and close the centre as necessary.

Liaise with the responsible section/service regarding the maintenance of gardens and buildings.

Provide administrative support to the relevant Senior Children’s Centre Worker and/or Children’s Centre Practice Manager



Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

An NVQ 2 or 3 GCSE’s grades C or above or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience.

A knowledge of relevant processes and procedures and an understanding of relevant regulations, codes of practice and required outputs

The ability to use initiative and judgement to resolve day-to-day problems independently.

Proven written and verbal communication skills.

A clear understanding of relevant regulations and codes of practice

A good level of IT skills


Desirable Criteria

Proven budget monitoring or numeracy skills.

A knowledge of the Sure Start Children’s Centre and Extended Schools core offer requirements

Experience of working in a multi-racial environment, or of working with people from other minority ethnic groups

Awareness and understanding of the Children's Act
