Essential Criteria

You will have a relevant professional or equivalent degree level qualification or equivalent relevant experience e.g. RIBA Part 1, Degree or HNC in Building.

You will have relevant practical experience, backed by evidence of appropriate specialist knowledge and will demonstrate authoritative knowledge of the specialist area relevant including Building Regulations and Planning Legislation.

You will have good communication and influencing skills. You will be able to effectively present proposals to clients and other stakeholders, establish positive relationships and influence outcomes.

You will have experience of planning work activities within general professional guidelines and/or Council’s policies. You will be able to work on your own initiative and unsupervised providing instructions to contractors and consultants without reference to others.

Demonstrable skills in the latest Autocad release 2D drafting with the enthusiasm and capability to progress to Revit 3D drafting to support the move towards Building Information Modelling. Experience of using other software packages such as Photoshop, Google Sketch-up and NBS Specification Writer

You will be able to determine your own priorities in dealing with competing workloads, able to forward plan to achieve required programme dates and ti determine your own priorities in dealing with competing projects.

Good verbal and written communication skills

Where appropriate you will have some financial experience or training to manage budgets with demonstrable ability to control both the programming and financial aspects of projects at both pre-contract and post-contract stages.

The ability to lead a team of in-house and private practice professionals assembled for a specific project up to a value of £3m

Able to demonstrate the Council’s values and behaviours.


Desirable Criteria

Experience on educational projects or knowledge of Department for Education Building Bulletins.

Experience of 3D drafting and BIM
