Summary of Post
An opportunity has arisen for a committed individual to join the Schools Catering Service as a Breakfast Cook. You will work as part of a team made up of the kitchen unit manager and a number of catering assistants.

Your primary responsibilities will be to assist in the provision of food according to the menu, portion control, food preparation and cooking. In addition you will also be involved with the general running of the kitchen, washing up, general cleaning and other tasks associated with catering. A moderate amount of lifting is necessary in the execution of the post holders duties such as the movement of dining furniture, saucepans and provisions.

This post has a starting hourly rate of £9.34, working 5 hours per week, Term Time Only (39 weeks per annum). The approximate starting salary before deductions is £2.050.00 per annum.

This post is based within Integra - Integra is the trading arm of South Gloucestershire Council

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s Barred List checks will be required for this role.

Main Duties

The key duties include:

• Basic food preparation and cooking ensuring the highest possible standards of hygiene.
• To assist in the organisation and supervision of the kitchen and food service area.
• Assisting the kitchen unit manager in other duties as agreed, that would be appropriate for the grade and post.
• Counter service
• Setting Tables and Chairs for Service
• Cleaning of the kitchen to include washing up
• Communication with pupils and staff in a polite and friendly manner.
