Summary of Post

An exciting opportunity to work in a high performing, supportive team helping the council in the successful delivery of various programmes and projects. This post provides the opportunity to work, as required, in any council department, with a variety of service areas and within different project delivery methodologies.
The post holder will have responsibility for undertaking business process analysis, design and re-engineering work in order to improve the customer experience, deliver efficiencies and corresponding savings. This work will form part of the Authority’s transformational and efficiency programme as well as other business as usual priorities. The post holder will work with Programme and Project Managers as well as directly with Service Leads and Managers across the council.
Two posts available. This is a Limited Term Contract up to 31/03/2021.

Interviews are likely to be held on Wednesday 28th August 2019. This will consist of a skills assessment, followed by a competency based interview.

Main Duties

The main duties of a business analyst will include:

• Contribute as a business analysis specialist within project teams responsible for defining improvement and efficiency opportunities
• Use the agreed business analysis tools, procedures and processes available within the council to ensure recommended business solutions are in line with the council’s agreed target operating model. This could be in unfamiliar areas of the council for the business analyst.
• Research, analyse and recommend business solutions for a particular service area, within an environment of complex issues, changing priorities and circumstances to ensure successful completion of a project.
• Engage, establish and manage good working relationships with customers managing differing expectations and perspectives so that business needs, timescales and financial requirements are met with the aim of maximising cost effectiveness and quality of service delivery.
• Run business analysis staff engagement workshops to gather feedback or develop and test potential solutions

Selection Criteria

1. Experience in undertaking a Business Analysis or similar role.
2. Hold a relevant degree or equivalent relevant experience in business analysis
3. Significant experience within local government or an organisation delivering similar services
4. Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and analytical skills with an ability to make things clear and simple to understand.
5. Significant knowledge and experience of contributing to developing processes, procedures and/or projects
6. Proven ability to build positive relationships with good communication and interpersonal skills for a range of audiences.
7. Ability to understand and interpret complex data and provide solutions and recommendations to achieve appropriate outcomes.
8. Self-motivated and organised with the ability to prioritise and focus on what is important, within tight timescales and under pressure
