We have a number of exciting opportunities to join the Systems and Performance Team across multiple disciplines, such as Business Analysis, Systems Support and Business Intelligence. The council is going through a period of substantial change and there are a number of high profile projects across the Children’s, Adults and Health Department. • Business Intelligence Analyst - Full Time - Yate (Fixed: 12 Months)
• Business Intelligence Analyst 0.5FTE – Yate (Permanent)


Working in both adults and children’s social care to provide business intelligence, help services to monitor and improve performance and working on specific projects to deliver a range of performance management information and associated data. These roles will involve using a range of databases and a number of business intelligence tools such as SQL and Business Objects.


• Business Analyst 1fte - Full Time - Yate (Fixed: 12 Months)

Working in social care and associated support functions (e.g. Finance, Commissioning etc) to determine the processes and system configurations needed to support the management, delivery, recording and reporting of social work activity.

Selection Criteria

To enable us to shortlist in a fair and unbiased way it is absolutely vital that you provide us with sufficient information to demonstrate how you meet or exceed the criteria outlined in the vacancy description. Please include this information in the knowledge, skills and experience section of the application form.

• You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably one with statistical or significant numerical and/or computing content, or have relevant experience in a similar role.

• You must have well developed communication skills to present and explain results clearly and succinctly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge, as well as being able to use the data and your skills to influence and persuade future behaviour, as well as interpret and agree customer needs and turn this into a report specification

• You will have substantial experience in the use of computer systems and in particular how these relate to business processes. You will have training, knowledge and experience in Systems analysis in a recognised methodology with the ability to demonstrate experience of having used it. You will have a good analytical understanding and be able to demonstrate the use of this in the identification, documentation and implementation of new business processes across a range of work areas.

• You must have proven ability to use initiative, and to work independently and to established deadlines. You will have experience of managing your work programme and balance the prioritisation and achievement of planned tasks with new and changing project demands that emerge. The post holder must have good team working skills, including the ability to foster good team working among multidisciplinary groups.

• You must have Advanced skills in Excel (or similar), and experience of using reporting and analytical software (e.g. Business Objects, SQL reporting, SPSS, MapInfo etc) and a good working knowledge of word processing software. You must also have proven expertise and ability in analytical and research skills, including the manipulation of large amounts of statistical data from complex databases

Desirable:

• Experience of data analysis in an Education, Social Care, Health or similar setting, preferably in a large multi-site, multi-user context.
