Cambrian Green Day Services is a purpose built Dementia Day Centre offering Day Care to residents of South Gloucestershire living with Dementia.

We have 2 apprenticeship opportunities available for those that have a keen interest in people and positive caring attitude toward others. These are new positions and an exciting opportunity for someone who has the ability to make connections whilst developing an understanding and awareness of how Dementia can affect individuals.

Throughout the 19 month apprenticeship you will receive supervision, guidance and support from your workplace supervisor and a workplace mentor. This is a work based learning apprenticeship where you will complete a Level 2 in Adult Care and gain a work-related professional qualification.

The apprenticeship will give you training and development in order to assist with and contribute to care planning. You will also learn relevant processes and procedures and how to use specialist equipment supporting a variety of mobility needs of Service Users.

You will gain knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice, for example Safeguarding, Mental Capacity/Deprivation of Liberties (DOLs), Valuing People, The essential Standards of Quality and Safety and Putting People First.

Please note that you will be expected to undertake a basic skills assessment as part of the selection process which will be emailed to you by the training provider, City of Bristol College.

Main Duties

Under the guidance of the Operational Manager and Day Opportunity Facilitator, the apprentice will assist and support people to access and participate and be occupied in meaningful activities throughout the day.

To provide support which help adults who attend to achieve realistic outcomes including sustaining lifelong skills, as specified within their Assessed and ongoing support needs which include personal care and other daily support needs for individuals who attend.

As well as working at the Centre with Service users this role includes the responsibility of supporting the Driver of the mini bus with escort duties on the bus when collecting them from their homes within South Gloucestershire.

Selection Criteria

Essential

•Ideally hold English and Maths at grade C or 4 and above, or equivalent, or be willing to work towards gaining Level 2 in English and Maths.

•You will have the ability to show sensitivity and empathy in your work and communicate well with others.

•Have an understanding of person centred approaches.

•Be motivated and willing to learn throughout the apprenticeship.

Desirable

•An understanding Dementia and how it affects a person’s day to day life.

Additional Information

Interviews will take place on the 10th and 11th October.

Please note that it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. This means that you must declare any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings unless these are ‘protected’ as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) order 1975 (as amended in 2013).

The post holder will work a variety of 7.5hr shifts worked over a five day period. E.g. 8.30am -4.30pm or 10.00am-6.00pm. The timescale patterns reflect the needs of service which will include start times of 8.30am and finish times of 6pm.

Aged 25+ £8.21 per hour
Aged 21-24 £7.70 per hour
Aged 18-20 £6.15 per hour
Under 18 £4.35 per hour

Hours: 37 hrs
