We are inviting expressions of interest for a permanent Assistant Commissioning Officer post in the Personalisation section of the Partnerships and Commissioning Hub (Department for Children, Adults and Health).

Interviews will be held during March 2019.

Under the guidance of the Commissioning Officer, the post holder will work with colleagues and the Commissioning Officer to monitor direct payment accounts to check that service users are managing the direct payment funding appropriately.

The direct payment will already have been established, and the role of the Assistant Commissioning Officer is to provide standard monitoring of direct payment accounts, and investigate issues when they arise. This will involve accessing adult care information, liaising with service users to clarify and address issues relating to use of the direct payment card account, and referring onto colleagues where the service user needs more support to manage their direct payment, or there are outstanding queries. You will also be liaising with service users to return unspent funding, and to close accounts when direct payments end. The role involves updating records on different systems.

We are looking for a numerate person who can process financial information quickly. You will also need to have excellent and adaptable communication skills, as you will be contacting a wide range of service users, carers, front line staff and partner organisations to progress queries. You will require tact and problem solving skills to support service users and carers to resolve issues. The contact will be on the phone and via email. You will have good literacy skills.

The post holder will contribute to project planning, partnership working and the development of commissioning plans, by gathering and researching information on best practice, national policy, legislation etc. to provide to other officers in the team.

The post holder will also assist with planning and preparing events for service users and stakeholders, to help inform future design.

The post holder will be able to seek guidance from the Commissioning Officer and/or Commissioning Manager, where needed.
