How you’ll make a difference

Working as an Opportunities Facilitator you will make a difference by supporting residents living with dementia and their family members within South Gloucestershire’s Communities.

What does a typical day look like?

As a senior staff member, you’ll be guiding and monitoring the staff team.

You will be planning and implementing an extensive activity programme which focuses on the needs of people who have Dementia and arrange person centred activities, enabling individuals to be meaningfully occupied throughout the day.

In your role you will planning and implementing programmes for the staff team who support the users who attend and also proactively resolve difficulties, challenging and managing any issues arising.

A key part of your role will be to complete, review and maintain appropriate records such as Support Plans and Risk Assessments, that identify and meet the assessed needs of users.

What we need from you:

- You will hold a vocational qualification eg. QCF/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Social Care.

- Experience of working in similar service area, with people who have Dementia and need to have an understanding of the complexities of Dementia with the ability to carry out risk assessments.

- Have a full driving licence and must be willing to drive a council vehicle (car) and travel within South Gloucestershire.

- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice, for example Safeguarding, Mental Capacity/Deprivation of Liberties (DOLs); The Essential Standards of Quality and safety, Valuing People.

- Good interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills along with report writing skills which include developing Care Plans identifying support needs of individuals who attend.

- Have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use, or be trained in the use of, appropriate specialist in-house software packages.
