Economic Development Assistant

Salary Band: £22,462 - £24,799
Working Pattern: Limited term contract (6 months) – full time (37 hours)
Location: Badminton Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 7AF

How you’ll make a difference

As an Economic Development Assistant you will be supporting the local business community by ensuring steady and continued economic growth across the region by using determination and tenacity to deliver to time, cost and quality. Having experience of working in an external engagement setting with partners and clients will be truly beneficial to your application.

What will you be doing?

You will support the small but productive Business Investment & Digital Connectivity team by updating the www.insouthglos.co.uk website as well as monitoring the business@ inbox.

You will support periodic jobs fairs and successfully renew Fairtrade status for South Gloucestershire by working with relevant steering groups. This is an exciting time to join the team as South Gloucestershire has seen significant economic growth over the past few years, with further growth forecasted around existing development sites as well as new sites soon to be unlocked.

This role will provide a good grounding in a wide range of Economic Development issues and you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues or on your own initiative.

This post is ordinarily based at the council’s Yate office on Badminton Road but frequent travel is usually required to Bristol and Bath Science Park and to the West of England Combined Authority office in central Bristol.

You may also be expected to work from these locations based on business need when applicable. Occasional early starts and late finishes may be required as this is a business customer/client facing role. There is an expectation you will be able to work safely and productively from home in line with the council’s current HR policies.

What we need from you:

• Ideally you will have a qualification in Project management but a Business Administration qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential.

• You will have good written skills with experience of writing reports and analysing and interpretation data.

• You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with colleagues, other professionals, stakeholders and partner organisations

• Access to your own transport would be useful (or possessing a driving licence) as well as willingness to cycle or use public transport.
