Summary of Post

The South Gloucestershire Music Hub is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to provide leadership for the Contemporary Music School, which opens in October 2019. This is a new and exciting opportunity to create and develop a contemporary music school and an innovative and inspiring learning environment.

Main Duties

To lead and manage the centre, ensuring effective learning in all ensembles.

To lead, by example, on the use of effective teaching strategies aimed at improving learning.

Ensure that the safeguarding and protection of children and young people and promotion of their welfare is paramount in all that you do

Collect fees and concert receipts, liaising with Administrative staff to ensure that accurate accounts are maintained.


Selection Criteria

Essential

Ability to teach/play more than one instrument ideally guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, voice, ukulele or keyboard.

Experience of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils.

Successful teaching experience as instrumental and/or class teacher

Experienced ensemble director

Proven experience with regard to the development of musical resources e.g. the ability to compose or arrange for a variety of ensembles

Effective written and verbal communication with a range of stakeholders

Experience of managing a budget

Effective event management


Desirable

Qualified Teacher Status

Graduate or equivalent

Diploma or equivalent instrumental ability
