There is a career development opportunity for an experienced worker to cover a maternity leave for up to one year. The role is full time, not suitable for job share and open to South Gloucestershire staff only.

Key roles: To supervise a team of senior workers and engagement workers in the North Family, Young People Support Team (FYPS) with a specific focus on supporting staff to manage caseloads, including the stepping up and stepping down of cases to social care. FYPS supports whole family working and aims to work with families to enable them to identify and respond to the challenges they face by providing practical solutions and the Practice Manager has a key role in the professional development of staff, ensuring the safety of children, young people and families and managing Quality Assurance.

Selection Criteria

Essential

• A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline related to the provision of services to children and young people.

• Significant post qualification experience in a children’s services setting that must include experience of staff supervision, as relevant to the job role e.g. experience of working with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.

• Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to children, young people and families’ services.

• Effective team supervision skills, including ensuring that the team complies with guidance and relevant codes of practice.

• Experience of performance management of individual and team to ensure agreed outcomes are met.

• Detailed understanding of successful strategies to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

• High level skills in relationship building to deal effectively with service users, staff and partner agencies.

• Budget management and monitoring skills.


• Exemplifying the Council's values and behaviours.

Desirable


• Experience of working within a Local Authority setting.
