INTERNAL ONLY - Receptionist – Science Park

Summary of Post

The post holder will be responsible for welcoming visitors to the Science Park answering or referring inquiries and providing direction as appropriate.

Reception will be manned Monday – Friday 8.30 – 4.30 (37 hours per week)

The post holder will be the primary Receptionist for the Bristol & Bath Science Park.

This post is full time, limited term contract until April 2020.

Main Duties

The post holder will be responsible for welcoming visitors to the Science Park answering or referring inquiries and providing direction as appropriate.

The post holder will be required to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers at all times, demonstrating a high standard of customer care, appropriate corporate image and reflecting the Council’s values.

The post holder must be reliable to meet operational needs of reception opening times.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Substantial previous experience working in a busy customer facing reception/customer services environment dealing with high volumes of queries and visitors delivering a very high standard of customer care.

An excellent level of interpersonal skills associated with reception duties, including a good memory for faces and appointments. The ability to deal with agitated customers in an appropriate manner.

Have a smart appearance and be polite and courteous to a level appropriate with representing the Council positively as the first point of contact

Good written and spoken abilities, well organised with a good attention to detail and be able to prioritise workload

Previous experience in working accurately with computerised systems including basic spread sheets for recording information and updating lists, word-processing, spread sheets, email.

The willingness and ability to acquire, develop and extend skills

Awareness of the Data Protection Act and how it relates to the role.

Desirable

NVQ2 or equivalent including English or equivalent or equivalent experience.

Evidence of further education in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience.
