The Strategic Planning Policy & Specialist Advice Team is looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide supervisory support to the Strategic Planning Policy & Specialist Advice Team Manager to contribute to delivering a robust project managed approach to bringing forward the next stages of the council’s new Local Plan, sustainability appraisal and supporting technical evidence base, and where appropriate planning policy framework at the sub-national, local and community levels.

The post holder will also be expected to undertake professional work tasks relevant to planning policy preparation. In supporting the Team Manager this list is not exhaustive but illustrates the nature of tasks:

• Undertake day to day project management responsibility for preparing and progressing the new Local Plan, including preparation of monthly project reporting and delivering work assignments.
• Support effective cross service technical working
• Regular 1:1 catch up sessions with members of the Local Plan project team to support individual performance/ delivery of work tasks, staff issues and review progress in the delivery of matters the Head of Service has asked are undertaken
• Collection and co-ordination of performance data to feedback to the Team Manager for reporting
• Supporting with managing team budgets and financial planning
• Supporting with managing concerns, complaints and FOI requests
• Supporting with co-ordinating team responses to: SGC corporate consultations, official CLG/ Government consultations etc
• Supporting with managing items to Executive Members, Committees and keeping the Forward Plan updated
• Delivering initiatives that Corporate, ECS DMT, and the Head of Service have asked teams to undertake – e.g. H&S issues, data protection
• Deputising at SMT and/or other meetings as appropriate
