This role is offered on a secondment basis. You should obtain your managers agreement to the secondment prior to applying.

Salary Band: £35,934 - £38,813 pro-rata to hours worked

Working Pattern: Secondment/Full Time and Part Time (18.5 hours) for 6 months

Location: Council Offices, Badminton Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5AF

How you’ll make a difference

Future Bright is a free coaching and training programme to help people progress in their chosen career.

As part of the Future Bright team you will be helping people to recognise their potential, gain confidence and progress in their career as you will have responsibility for the delivery of the Future Bright Programme.

This includes providing leadership to the operational team to support the programme and insuring that the day to day work of the team and service is effectively planned and delivered.

What does a typical day look like??

Our Education, Learning and Skills Team provide a key role in developing and improving learning and employment opportunities for our communities now and for the future.

This is a key role and will require you to positively support and challenge the team to manage to manage varying workloads, timescales, and priorities, some of which may overlap and change at short notice.

An enabler of staff you will support staff to plan and implement the delivery objectives of the programme this may also include working with colleagues across the Skills Team to ensure projects clearly align with other areas of focus.

To succeed in this role you will also need to keep abreast of local, regional and national policy developments relevant to skills, employment and welfare reform.

To ensure we achieve best outcomes and value you will provide clear, agreed targets for any commissioned skills and learning areas including clear quality standards and monitoring processes. Naturally you can also expect to provide data for the preparation of reports, to external funders, senior officers and Councillors.

What we need from you:

Degree and/or professional qualification (Level 5 or above) in a relevant discipline or equivalent substantial experience in a related field. For example, qualified teacher status or Careers related standards.

You will have experience of working in the ‘Skills’ area and/or similar projects to support residents secure with positive outcomes with the ability to lead, supervise and allocate work, monitor performance and support staff to deliver against objectives.

Your experience in ‘skills’ should be underpinned by relevant, strong knowledge of current legislation and policy.
With experience of successful project management you will be able to demonstrate your ability to manage, co-ordinate and process competing workloads

Experience of building and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders at various levels (e.g. funders, partners, internal and external colleagues) and provide expertise and advice to support the programme.

You will be able to write with clarity for a variety of audiences, including updates, reports and briefings and contribute to effective marketing and communications of the service with colleagues.

Your experience to date will also include understanding of budgets and reporting functions, managing and interpreting data. Competent in the use of Management Information systems and range of other ICT applications that support the planning, delivering and monitoring of provision/programs and contracts.

You will have experience of and be comfortable with multiagency working and clear understanding of job roles within it in order to plan, organise and deliver allocated programme in support of the policies and strategies of the , West of England Combined Authority and Education, Learning and Skills Team.

Please note:

This role requires you to travel widely within the Authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car, or have access to appropriate means of travel.
