We’re investing in our services and development opportunities. Integrated Children’s Services are reshaping to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible service to children and families in South Gloucestershire; we also recognise the need for a clear development pathway to ensure we retain our talented social workers throughout their career. We want to ensure that numbers of staff and children supervised are reasonable and allow our Team Managers to know all of the cases within their team well.

We have created four new Team Manager Posts across Integrated Children’s Services. These posts are open to existing members of staff within the council.

The newly created posts are all based in Yate, as follows:

• Post SGC1407 – 1.0 FTE - Long Term Social Care (Central Hub, Westgate)
• Post SGC1408 – 1.0 FTE - Exploitation Team (Central Hub, Westgate)
• Post SGC1409 – 1.0 FTE - 0-18 Children with Disabilities Team (Badminton Road)
• Post SGC0244 – 1.0 FTE - Looked After Children/Adoption (Badminton Road)

Main Duties

Please refer to the attached role profiles for the Hay 3 Team Manager posts in Integrated Children’s Services and 0-25.

Selection Criteria


1. You will hold a professional qualification to at least degree level or equivalent and a relevant management qualification with substantial management experience and where required an additional specialist professional qualification.

2. You will demonstrate specialist up to date knowledge of the service area and relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice including equalities and research and trends in social care policy.

3. You will have excellent leadership skills.

4. You will have well developed interpersonal skills.

5. You will be able to lead and effectively communicate, negotiate with and influence colleagues and partners.

6. You will have experience of managing complex projects, programmes and activities.

7. You will be able to plan and manage service and departmental budgets.

8. You will have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use, or be trained in the use of, appropriate specialist in-house software packages.

Please note that it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. This means that you must declare any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings unless these are ‘protected’ as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) order 1975 (as amended in 2013).

You will be required to maintain HCPC registration.

Salary: £42,806 - £46,606 (pay scales subject to review April 2019)

Hours: 37
