Summary

Adoption West will launch in October 2018 as a collaborative venture between Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Councils to provide a regional adoption service.

Adoption West are preparing for their launch and are now looking for an Adoption Team Manager to join the Leadership team of our new Regional Adoption Agency.

This is an exciting time to join Adoption West as we build on the solid foundations already in place, and aim to improve performance in meeting the needs of those children who require permanence through adoption;

•In reducing the time that children have to wait for adoptive placements

•In improving the experience for prospective adopters from initial inquiry, through the assessment process, panel approval and placement matching and the delivery of post adoption support services.


Adoption West will operate via 3 hubs across the region. Each Adoption Hub will provide all aspects of adoption recruitment, assessment, family finding and the coordination of adoption support services. The post holder will manage and lead an adoption staff team efficiently and effectively in accordance with organisational policy, practice standards and procedures within the range of delegated duties.

The post holder will act as the lead contact /consultant on adoption matters for their area. The Adoption Manager has a clear safeguarding remit to ensure that permanent placements for children are safe and sustainable and that children are skilfully matched with appropriate adopters.

You will report to the Service Director and your principal role is to be the strategic and operational lead responsible for the delivery and development of effective adoption services, in accordance with Adoption Standards and Regulations.

Commitment

Adoption West will ensure you are supported in your role through supervision and training. You will be part of the Leadership team which will drive high standards and aim for excellence in the practice of adoption.

The Team Manager will be able to use their creativity and skills to contribute to the development of adoption services both in their hub area of responsibility and also regionally to ensure the best outcome for children and families.

Adoption West is a learning organisation and are committed to enabling the post holder to grow and develop in the role.

•Membership of a professional body or association. The job holder is responsible for payment of all professional fees, memberships, registrations or subscriptions and no reimbursement or contribution towards these will be provided by Adoption West

•This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will require an Enhanced DBS check before appointment can be confirmed.


Confidentiality: Employees are expected to maintain the required level of confidentiality at all times in relation to their work.

About you

You will need to be a HCPC registered Social Worker with at least two years’ experience relevant to adoption within the past five years, at least one years’ experience supervising and managing professional staff and in-depth knowledge and experience of child care law and practice.
