Details of Role:

Talking Money is a Bristol-based money advice charity with a vision of communities living without poverty. Our team works to provide free, independent, specialist debt and benefits advice, and general money guidance, information and support to over 1500 local citizens a year. We have a strong track record of providing training and consultancy to local voluntary, statutory and private sector organisations.

We are looking to recruit a benefits caseworker to join our team of 11 advisers. The role involves providing information, advice and advocacy on welfare benefits, charitable applications (for things like household items) and other sources of financial support to people living mainly in low-income households in Bristol and the surrounding area.

We work with people predominantly on a 1-2-1 basis, both face-to-face and over the phone (much more of the latter in the current circumstances). We also run group sessions and workshops, sometimes targeted at people with common experiences (such as single parents or people who are currently in prison). We encourage collaborative working across roles, both within and outside of the organisation to jointly problem solve and expedite better outcomes for clients.

Talking Money encourages applications from those with lived experience of money worries; these might have been experienced personally or through the experiences of people close to you. We are also very keen to encourage applications from the BAME community who are currently under-represented within our team. We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to supporting you in the application process; do please let us know if we can help in any particular way.
