We are offering an opportunity for a skilled engagement worker to make a difference to the lives of care leavers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

1625 Independent People (1625ip) is a leading youth homeless charity based in the South West, working with over 2,500 young people. We have strong local partnerships and adhere to the best practice in the sector, thereby building trusting relationships between young people and 1625ip staff is at the core of our work.

Our Intensive Support Service offers housing with intensive support to care leavers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, helping them to achieve greater stability and transition successfully from care to independent living.

What we are looking for:
• Someone with strong commitment to supporting young people to improve their life chances.
• Someone who has excellent skills in engaging and communicating with vulnerable young people who have chaotic lives, and complex needs.
• Someone who is able to develop trusting relationships.
• Someone with a can-do approach to overcoming barriers and excellent skills and commitment to working collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Someone with a working knowledge of housing management processes as they relate to supported accommodation for young people.
• Someone who is able to work some evenings and weekends.

What you will be doing:
• Working intensively with a small caseload, providing flexible, tailored support to enable young people to build independent living skills and maintain their tenancies.
• Ensuring our properties are safe, compliant with relevant legislation, and well maintained.
• Keeping effective records to evidence progress and outcomes for all young people.

You will be in the Specialist Services team, and your line manager will be the Intensive Support Service Team Leader.

What we are offering:
• A generous 30 days holiday per year (pro rata based on 0.9 FTE).

Contract details:
• Hours per week: 33.75 (part time based on 0.9 FTE)
• Contract type: Permanent
• Pay: NJC scale 19-22 starting at the bottom of the scale
• Salary range: £24,799 - £26,317 per annum (pro rata 0.9 FTE)
• The location: You will be based in Kingsley Hall/The Foyer, close to Bristol’s main train and bus stations as well as the vibrant city centre.
