Further information

If you are looking for a varied, challenging and rewarding role, we have a very exciting opportunity for the right person to join the West of England Combined Authority as PA to the Director of Infrastructure. Working to the Head of Chief Executive’s Office, you’ll have ample opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects in this new, fast-paced organisation as we progress our ambitious agenda for the region.

Our support staff are crucial to helping us achieve our goals, and you’ll be making sure the Director's day runs seamlessly; from arranging meetings, supporting agenda setting and taking minutes of key directorate meetings to inbox, telephone and diary management. No two days will be the same.

You’ll work closely with the Director to ensure he is fully prepared for all meetings and engagements and, alongside the Business Support team, you’ll make sure a high-quality administrative service is provided.

You’ll need to make sure that all necessary arrangements are made for meetings, events and conferences, and your excellent IT skills will regularly be called on to prepare materials.

In order to succeed in this position, you will have strong numerical, verbal and written skills. With impressive organisational ability, you will have a sharp eye for detail and be able to handle sensitive information with utmost discretion. As the first point of contact for citizens and regional partners, you will need to be confident drafting emails and correspondence on the Director’s behalf.

To really hit the ground running, it would be ideal if you had experience of operating within the public sector or a complex or political working environment. With a background in organising events and meetings, you will have proven competency in business administration equivalent to NVQ level 3. Happy working off your own initiative, it goes without saying that you’ll also need to be a team player – we work together to create a calm yet dynamic environment, so if you think you could be the perfect addition to our team we’d love to hear from you.

We have three new PA roles advertised currently at the West of England Combined Authority - PA to the Director of Business & Skills/ PA to the Director of Infrastructure/ PA to the Director of Investment & Corporate Services and Director of Legal. If you would like to be considered for either of the other two positions in addition to this role please state this in the supporting information section of your application along with your preferences. There is no need to apply for each role individually.
