The role
This is a really exciting role within the friendly South Gloucestershire team. Supported Lodgings is a relatively new service in South Gloucestershire and is a crucial part of the South Gloucestershire Youth Housing Pathway. Still very much in the development stages, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and passionate person to continue to develop and embed the project and make it their own.
Your role as the Supported Lodgings Coordinator will be a varied one and will include: recruiting host families, carrying out assessments, providing training and development opportunities, liaising with Social Services departments to identify referrals of young people into the project, matching young people to host families, enabling smooth transition into the project and co-ordinating the appropriate support for hosts and young people.
The South Gloucestershire team is made up of twelve people working across seven contracts. We are a small and friendly team with wide and varied skills and knowledge in supporting young people and there’s always someone on hand to provide support when needed. Our work is rooted in providing support in a Psychologically Informed Environment framework known as PIE. The team are very supportive of each other and through reflective practice we are always learning from our own and each other’s experiences.
A typical day may include:
1 Working with a member of the public who would like to know more about becoming a host
2 Liaising with a Social Worker to find out more about a young person being referred into the project
3 Planning a training evening for hosts

About you
You have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.
You have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, inspire and build trust with hosts and vulnerable young people.
You have the ability to be supportive as well as the ability to challenge pro-socially and offer clear and consistent responses.
You have experience in working with vulnerable young people, as well as experience in working with other agencies.
You have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and feel comfortable talking with people from all walks of life.
• There is a requirement to work flexibly when needed, which will include occasional evening and weekend work.
• You will need to travel across South Gloucestershirel so you must have either a full driving licence and access to a vehicle or the equivalent ability to travel with reasonable adjustments.
Where and who?
You will be working in the South Gloucesteshire team, line managed by the South Gloucestershire Service Manager and be based at our Patchway office.
