Parking Enforcement Case Officer

Summary of Post

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a busy and proactive team dealing with all aspects of the administration of Penalty Charge Notice (PCNs) progressions. The role includes decision making on PCNs that have been contested by drivers and contact both verbally and in writing to enquiries. The Parking Appeals team adhere to policy and discuss openly decisions in a team forum. The post creates an opportunity to develop key skills in customer care and a sound knowledge of parking legislation and the Council’s Parking Enforcement Policy. The Parking Enforcement Team contributes significantly to the community by reducing emissions caused by stationary traffic, maximises available parking spaces, particularly for the disabled and at town centre locations and increasing road safety.

Main Duties
• To respond to challenges and appeals against Penalty Charge Notices
• Give advice to members of the public and businesses on the parking controls in South Gloucestershire.
• Deal with customer enquiries in writing, face to face and by telephone
• Deal with the administration of PCN progressions including registration at County Court and referral to Enforcement Agents.


Selection Criteria

Essential
1. You will have a relevant professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience
2. You must be able to work on your own and use your own initiative.
3. You must be able to manage a work load and comply with statutory requirements and guidelines.
4. You must be able to deal with aggressive and confrontational situations
5. Good verbal and written communication skills
6. Exemplifying the Council's values and behaviours.

Desirable

1. You will have detailed knowledge of parking enforcement legislation, backed by evidence of appropriate specialist knowledge of the operation and practice of parking enforcement.
