South Gloucestershire Council are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Parking Support Apprentice to join the wider Strong, Safer Communities team in the parking department.

You will receive supervision, guidance and support from your workplace supervisor and a workplace mentor. You will be working within a small team. As part of the apprenticeship you will complete a Level 2 in Business Administration which will involve weekly day release to the training provider in Filton.

Over the duration of the 13 month apprenticeship you will be trained and gain work experience of carrying out a variety of duties competently and effectively.

The apprenticeship has scope to develop further qualification and knowledge to respond to challenges and appeals against Penalty Charge Notices issued, in order to understand and follow statutory procedures and timescales; along with internal processes. This will help you work towards being able to give advice to members of the public and businesses on the parking controls and help control the database for resident parking schemes in South Gloucestershire.

Please note that you will be expected to undertake a basic skills assessment as part of the selection process. These will take place at SGS College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT.

Main Duties

As an apprentice in this role, you will be providing administrative support to the parking team.

You will be required to:

Undertake postal duties, mainly dealing with post going out.
Scanning all incoming bailiff data.
Downloading and allocating of photos to cases.
Monitoring the email inbox and dealing with responses or distribute to the appropriate officers for action.
Answering the telephone and dealing with resident enquires or transferring calls to the appropriate officer.
Deal with paper permit renewals and issue new permits.
Carry out Civil Enforcement Officer welfare checks by telephone.

Selection Criteria

• Must hold a minimum qualification of 3 grade C’s at GCSE including English, Maths, or equivalent or be willing to work towards Level 2 in English and Maths.

• You will have good attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, error free work.

• Good IT skills in the use of computer packages, such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.

• To be enthusiastic, motivated and willing to learn, with ability to work as part of a team.

• You will have good organisation and communication skills.

This is a limited term contract for 13 months.
