South Gloucestershire Council is looking for a well organised and adaptable Procurement Apprentice to join the DECS Procurement Team and assist with day to day activity within the Transport & Procurement Section.

As an apprentice you will support the operation of the StreetCare supply chain, Transportation, our in-house stores and staff training requirements. You will gain a broad understanding of public sector procurement, and experience StreetCare operations first hand.

If you are the right apprentice for us, you will have good communication skills and have excellent IT skills.

As part of the apprenticeship you will complete Level 4 Commercial Procurement Supply training with a local provider in Filton, which will be delivered on a block release basis.

This apprenticeship will last for 24 months and you will gain a Diploma level of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

Please note that you will be expected to undertake a basic skills assessment as part of the selection process. These will take place at SGS College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7ATon either dates;

Main Duties

Placing and processing orders against existing contracts and frameworks, and maintaining detailed records.

Undertaking a variety of administrative tasks such as sending and responding to e-mail, manual and computerised filing, scanning and photocopying.

Producing documents using Council guidelines and templates.

Researching and negotiating with different suppliers, and recommending options that will deliver best value.

Raising training course requests for the operations and StreetCare staff and maintaining training records via Excel.

Meet and greet external suppliers and providers, and welcome participants in organised training events.

Selection Criteria

To enable us to shortlist in a fair and unbiased way it is absolutely vital that you provide us with sufficient information to demonstrate how you meet or exceed the criteria outlined in the vacancy description. • Must hold a minimum qualification of 3 grade C’s at GCSE including English, Maths, or equivalent or be willing to work towards Level 3 in English and Maths.

• You will have good attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, error free work.

• Excellent IT skills in the use of computer packages, such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.

• Able to seek out information, collate it and present findings.

• You will have good organisation skills and attention to detail.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 4th December 2018 at the Broad Lane Office.
