We’re making a difference: be part of it

Our teams at South Gloucestershire Council are making a real difference to the lives of people who live, work and learn here.

We're building and shaping communities which people are proud of

We're working with the most vulnerable in our community to help them achieve what they want in life

We're planning for the future; building and improving the roads, railways, schools, green spaces, and houses, which will continue to make South Gloucestershire a great place to live and work in.

We've achieved a great deal, but we need talented and dedicated people to ensure we continue to make a difference.

How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different

We know our team work best when they have balance in their lives and we offer genuine flexibility to help them achieve that work/life balance - whatever that means for them.

We value our staff as individuals, investing in their careers and we are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our training and development offer, which helps them make the greatest long-term difference in their work.

We trust our team to work in the way which allows them to make the biggest difference and we continue to invest in technology to help staff do their jobs to the best of their ability and celebrate innovation.

How you’ll make a difference

You will be doing really important work to ensure the council recruits the right people at the right time.

We are only as good as the people we employ and it will be your job to ensure that our hiring managers are supported through the recruitment process.

You will provide advice on recruitment plans and will be key to ensuring our candidates receive a great recruitment and on-boarding experience so that the council can continue to service the community effectively.

What does an average day look like?

This is a customer focused role, your customers are both the hiring manager and the candidate so with this the job offers day-to-day variety.

You’ll need to understand the recruitment process from end to end and approach each vacancy with a flexible approach as well as giving excellent customer service at all times.

You will be uploading adverts on our IT system and will ensure they are placed in the correct locations such as on social media, our careers site or specialist job boards.

You will then provide support to hiring managers in shortlisting and inviting candidates to interviews.

You may also be supporting hiring managers in the recruitment of temporary or interim appointments, leasing with our partnering recruitment agencies.

Once a successful candidate has been appointed you will ensure the candidate has a positive and quick on boarding experience by carrying out pre-employment checks, references and most importantly keep the candidate up to date.

What we need from you:

You will have relevant practical experience or training in Recruitment, HR or Administration

You will enjoy problem solving and providing high level customer service.

You will have good written and verbal communication skills.

If you have the skills we need and want to put them to good use to make a difference for the people of South Gloucestershire, contact us today.

Closing Date: Sunday 15th December 2019

Interview Date: Thursday 19th December 2019
