Summary of Post


You will assist in the monitoring and delivery of a comprehensive, professional and dynamic internal audit service, in accordance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards

Interviews anticipated week commencing 23rd July 2018

Main Duties


Undertake risk based, probity and other audits and assignments, including special investigation projects and reviews in accordance with the audit plan, to the relevant professional standards.

Contribute to projects, value for money and special assignments in a way that enhances their effectiveness and efficiency and contributes to the value of audit and other services.

Under the direction of a Group Auditor monitor and report progress on a designated area of the audit plan.


Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria
• Part qualified CCAB qualification or IIA/AAT or equivalent with significant experience of audit or accountancy work.

• Knowledge and experience of accounting and auditing practices, policies and standards and how they apply to Local Government.

• Excellent communication skills to include listening and interpreting as well as an ability to write and speak fluently and concisely.

• Total commitment to results and influencing performance through working positively and effectively with others.

• Ability to manage performance by setting targets, producing high volumes and quality of work to deadlines.

• Pro-active in problem solving and able to analyse information, explore different options, use initiative to seek solutions and form conclusions, demonstrating awareness and creative thinking.

• Ability to promote a positive image of self, the audit function and the wider Council.


Additional Information


You will be required to travel widely, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.

Using your vehicle on council business: if you use your vehicle on authorised council business, you can claim a mileage payment based on HM Revenue and Customs authorised mileage allowance payment scheme (AMAPS). The allowance is provided on the condition that your own insurance covers you for business use and indemnifies the council against claim (including those concerning passengers) arising out of the use of the vehicle on official business.
