Join a highly successful Street Lighting Team covering South Gloucestershire you will be responsible for providing detail design of street lighting projects along with leading the associated consultation and project management, giving input to street lighting issues/queries/proposals. Having relevant knowledge of investigating, assessing and decision making on matters relating to lighting policy, design and installations including site inspections,you will support the development and deliver strategies and policies including carbon reduction strategy.

This role is open to applicants with a range of relevant skills and experience to the job role and we welcome applications from qualified trainees to those with a high level of working knowledge. Salary offered will reflect the skills and experience demonstrated at interview.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING WITHIN THE JOB ROLE:
- Providing a design service for street lighting schemes providing solutions and costing where necessary.
- Preparing drawings, calculations, and specifications for street lighting schemes.
- Assist in preparing reports and responding to enquiries and correspondence from
- Members of Parliament, the general public etc.
- To lead, in consultation with developers, to agree Streetlighting design, to satisfy both planning conditions and adoption of sustainable Streetlighting.
- To investigate and make assessments on any matter relating to Streetlighting.
- Assist with the co-ordination and inspection of street lighting including liaison with partner agencies as necessary.
- Provide technical advice and reports to other departments and sections on Streetlighting matters.
- Contribute to the development of the Council’s street lighting policies to ensure the long term sustainability.
- Support the co-ordination of the Council’s response to planning applications, major site applications and building regulation requirements to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent and a technical qualification in an appropriate discipline, with considerable relevant experience
- Working towards (or holding) Membership of an appropriate Institution
- Have a detailed knowledge of street lighting design requirements and working practices.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of customer care
- Competence in written and oral communication of all forms.
- Knowledge of legislation and current issues facing the service.
- Ability to co-ordinate with others and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of autocad and computer aided design.
- Must hold a current driving licence

Additional Information
You will be required to travel, for example to construction sites and other offices and may be required to work outside normal hours and additionally maybe expected to take part in an out of hours emergency duty rota for which they will receive the appropriate additional remuneration.
