How you’ll make a difference

You will be pivotal in leading the implementation of agreed arrangements for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities and specifically those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Your effective management style will ensure that your team of EHC coordinators meet all statutory timescales and that there is timely communication with parents throughout the process.

Your specialist knowledge in this area will ensure that all plans are high quality. Your leadership style will drive high levels of performance of professional operational delivery.


What does a typical day look like?

This is a managerial role and involves day to day supervision to a range of professionals within your team, who in turn will be working in a highly competent and participative working environment.

You will take responsibility for the management of cases within the relevant service area in accordance with the safeguarding procedures for vulnerable people.

You will be working in partnership to promote and co-ordinate initiatives and ensure that communication is effective, information and good practices are shared and learning is embedded in practice in line with government policies and guidelines.

A key part of the role will be to manage and monitor quality and performance to ensure the effectiveness of service provision, including monitoring expenditure to inform accurate budgeting and supporting robust financial management for this area.

You will be representing the Council’s interests when required ensuring that the Council’s position is promoted and understood and relevant specialist input is provided.

What we need from you:

• We are looking for someone who has substantial knowledge of relevant legislation relating to arrangements for Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities, including 2014 SEND Code of Practice

• You will have a recognised and relevant professional qualification e.g., teaching qualification, management qualification and registered with the GSCC and other professional bodies.

• You will have significant management experience and be able to demonstrate your experience in managing a service and budget.

• You will have evidence of skills, knowledge and experience to be able to assess and manage risk for the most vulnerable children in the community.
