Technical Support Trainee Full Time

Summary of Post
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who may be either starting out or looking for a change in their career and wishes to develop their knowledge and skills within a customer focused environment.

The trainee role is based within the Environment & Community Services Department and will sit within Strategic Planning and Housing Technical Support Team. The team’s purpose is to provide technical support to two high profile services which will be pivotal to delivery of growth in the region.

We are looking for someone who although may not have office experience is keen to learn and develop their skills whilst working as part of a busy team supporting the residents and businesses of South Gloucestershire. This a career entry post for technical support where progression occurs through successful recruitment opportunities.

The post holder may be expected to work from Badminton Road Office in Yate. This post is Limited Term for 6 months. Interviews will be week commencing 29/04/2019.

Main Duties
Under the day to day supervision of the Technical Support Team Leader the post holder will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of high quality technical support to the Environment & Community Services Department and its customers.

The post holder will operate a variety of manual and IT systems including; Microsoft Office, databases and document management system. Using established systems and procedures they will collate, record and update information ensuring information is accurately captured.

Duties will include answering general enquiries, the collation of information in relation to applications, licences and service requests, advising customers where their information is incomplete and the remedy, indexing and filing of documents into the document management systems, electronic mail distribution and assist other members of staff with any duties relevant to the service.

Physical Effort and Working Environment (other than in a normal office environment)

The post will be primarily office-based although there may be some occasions where the post holder is expected to work outside the office, for example meeting members of the public at roadshows or events.

1. Five GCSEs above C grade including Maths and English, NVQ2
2. Good verbal and written communications skills
3. A polite and efficient manner, with the ability to deal with customers courteously
4. A good knowledge of IT with experience of various different Office packages
5. Numeric and demonstrate a technical aptitude
6. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks
7. Experience of working in a customer focussed role or environment
