Further information

How you’ll make a difference

You will have the appetite to make a difference to people and the landscape of health and social care through the provision and adoption of Assistive Technology. You will promote independence, dignity and choice for the customer and enable people to live differently with the support and assistance of bespoke, care and commercial technology.

What does a typical day look like?

By being proactive, practical and technologically gifted, you will enable people to adopt Assistive Technology solutions for themselves. Your love of technology, gadgets applications and gizmos will help deliver the practical assistance social care practitioners and residents need in order to be able to adopt and use technology to live differently. You will support colleagues to identify and apply Assistive Technology solutions that can prevent, reduce and delay the need for care and support. Most importantly you will promote independence and autonomy for individuals and their carers.

You will carry out home visits in order to communicate with and listen effectively to adults with social care needs. You will interpret information, solve problems and provide support through technology enabled solutions. You will install Telecare, commercial, bespoke care and Assistive Technology and help people learn to use it effectively.

You will take instruction from an Occupational Therapist supervisor and work closely with colleagues, partners and peers. You will attend meetings, give and receive training and contribute to Assistive Technology service promotion. You will host advise, information and demonstration sessions at the Council’s Assistive Technology Hub/Celestine Centre.

You will problem solve and research new technologies and solutions in order to keep up to date with progressing technologies and continually apply this evolving knowledge in the service you deliver.
